Navigora’s data protection policy

Our business is mainly based on the processing of personal and corporate data. Taking into account and respecting data protection and privacy is an essential part of our business. Legislation and public authorities place higher than average demands on our operations. By managing data protection issues well, we want to ensure that we will continue to be able to offer our customers high-quality services.

In the data protection policy approved by the company’s management, we have defined the principles and methods by which we strive to guarantee high-quality services and a high level of data protection.

Data acquisition and processing

We only obtain our data from reliable sources. Data sources include registered persons, authorities and reliable partners. Data registration is based on law or agreements with suppliers. The agreements ensure a high level of data. Data acquisition and storage processes are constantly developed so that the quality level of data remains high in the future.

Our information system and the services we provide are designed and built with data security and protection in mind. Data processing processes are monitored and continuously improved. The information systems take into account the need of personnel to process data in their own work tasks by creating different levels of access rights.

Personal data of business persons

A business person is a person who acts or has acted as a responsible person in a company (Finnish Credit Information Act, Section 3) or in another responsible position in a company. Business persons include, among others, persons belonging to the company’s administration. Personal data concerning business persons can be processed more extensively than personal credit data.

There are provisions in the Finnish Credit Information Act on the processing of data of responsible persons.

Personal data of business persons is mainly obtained from the Trade Register and other public registers. Information about business persons is also obtained from the company itself.

Company information

In Finland, much of the information about companies engaged in business activities is public and available to everyone. There has been no desire to restrict the use of company information. For this reason, for example, company information in the Trade Register is public and available to everyone.

Company credit information is currently used for many different purposes. For companies, it is important that sufficient, reliable, up-to-date information about the company is available. It is very important for Navigora that our customers who use the information get a correct picture of the company’s financial position. To ensure this, we process company information expertly, in accordance with good register practice and taking into account the interests of the companies in the databases. Information about companies is mainly collected from the Trade Register and other public registers. We also collect a lot of information from the companies themselves.

Disclosing information to customers

To ensure customer satisfaction, we produce and provide our customers with high-quality information and services. High-quality services also include taking data protection into account. Taking care of data protection helps ensure that Navigora will be able to offer even higher quality services to satisfied customers in the future.

Another important value of our company is reliability. Cooperation with customers is based on mutual trust. We want to continue to be a reliable partner. Therefore, it is important for Navigora to also ensure that confidential information about customers remains confidential.

We require our customers to take privacy and data protection into account when using our data. In customer agreements, our customers commit to complying with data protection. We have tried to ensure the use of data in accordance with good data processing practice in our information systems through technical solutions, user instructions and other similar methods. We actively monitor the processing of our data. If we detect any use of data that is contrary to the agreement, we will intervene immediately.

Transparency towards data subjects

It is important for the reliability of Navigora online service and the social acceptability of our operations that we are open towards data subjects. Transparency is implemented, among other things, by the following means:

As the data controller, we have prepared register descriptions of our personal registers. The register descriptions are also available at our consumer advice centre. The register descriptions state the principles of personal data processing and the rights of data subjects.

A registered person or company can check their own data if they wish. A person can go and check their data themselves or they can send a request for inspection by post. A person can check their own data free of charge once a year. For companies, the right to inspect is mainly subject to a fee.

We fulfil the data controller’s obligation to provide information on the processing of personal data pursuant to Section 30 of the Finnish Credit Information Act by providing information on the processing methods of business persons’ personal data in our online service on our website.

If there is an error in our database, it will be corrected as quickly as possible. We have created appropriate procedures to correct the error.

Data Protection Supervisory Authority

The Data Protection Commissioner is an authority that guides, advises and supervises the processing of personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Act. The Data Protection Commissioner exercises decision-making power in matters concerning the implementation of the right of inspection and correction of information, and issues decisions on the legality of registration and the exercise of the rights of data subjects.

Updating the Data Protection Principles

The Data Protection Principles are in accordance with our current practice. We update the principles regularly and inform our partners of changes if necessary.
