Register description

1. Purpose of the register

Navigora Oy’s online service offers a comprehensive database of Nordic companies to support the business of private individuals, companies and other organizations. Navigora Oy collects and processes the database’s information content, utilizing several different sources, from official sources (like the Finnish Patent and Registration Office) to partners specializing in maintaining private sector contact information registers. In addition to companies’ financial, background and contact information, Navigora Oy’s online service can provide information on the work history, current position and tasks of key personnel in companies. In addition to basic company information and processed financial information, the online service can provide, among other things, contact information for key personnel maintained by Navigora Oy’s partners.

The registers that form the data warehouse of Navigora Oy’s online service are processed and disclosed to customers in accordance with Section 19 of the Finland’s Personal Data Act for use in sales, marketing and other addressed mailings (e.g. market research) and, for example, to support the management of customer data of Navigora Oy’s online service customer companies, for example, to maintain customer registers.

2. Basis for maintaining the register

The operations of Navigora Oy’s online service are guided by the Electronic Communications Data Protection Act, legislation on the processing of credit information with its regulations, the Communications Market Act and the Personal Data Act.

4. Data content of the register

The register maintains the name information, business IDs, contact information (business and postal addresses, telephone, fax, www address) and background information (including industry, year of establishment, number of personnel and/or personnel category), as well as the company’s key financial information. In addition, the register can maintain, or through it can be obtained, as provided by partners, the names, titles and operational and procurement responsibilities of decision-makers working in organizations (i.e. so-called position authorization).

In connection with the user management of Navigora Oy’s online service, the service database collects the names, contact information (such as email addresses), the name of the organization represented by the employee, and unique identification information related to the use of the service (user ID, password).

In addition, through the service, it may be possible to obtain information about the employees of the company under review (name, address, profession, organization, landline number, mobile phone number, email address, and information regarding any prohibitions that the data subject may have given that affect the public disclosure of information).

5. Regular and other data sources of the register

Organizational and personal data that may be obtained through Navigora Oy’s information service and provided by Navigora Oy’s partners are collected directly from organizations and the individuals working in them. In these cases, the regular data source for company and decision-maker data is the databases of Navigora Oy’s partners. In the future, organizational and personal data may also be collected and updated, for example, from companies’ public websites, the company and community information system, the population information system, the vehicle information system, the prohibition registers maintained by the Finnish Customer Service Marketing Association, the telephone subscription databases maintained by Navigora Oy’s partners, and other similar public and private registers.

6. Regular and other disclosures of personal data

Navigora Oy may disclose personal data in the register within the limits permitted by applicable legislation.

Navigora Oy may use external subcontractors’ systems or equipment to process data, from which they are processed via an appropriately protected technical connection.

Data is not transferred outside the EU and the European Economic Area as defined by law.

7. Protection of the register

The data is stored in systems that are protected by firewalls, passwords and other appropriate technical solutions. Databases and their backups are stored in locked and guarded premises, and only certain designated persons can access them.

8. Rights of the data subject

The data subject may exercise his or her right of inspection under the Finland’s Personal Data Act by submitting a request to Naviroga Oy in writing and with a signed request or by submitting a request for inspection by visiting Navigora Oy’s premises in person on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Navigora Oy corrects, supplements and deletes, if necessary, on its own initiative or at the justified request of the data subject, incorrect, incomplete or outdated information in the register. In addition, the data subject has the right to prohibit the data controller from disclosing their information for direct marketing purposes.
